About the Villa
The Coral Garden Inn (Casa de Coral) is an enchanting two suite complex with authentic hand-hewn wood and rattan furniture, decorative Mexican tile floors, bathrooms and countertops, local artisan designed wall decorations and bedspreads. Each 1500 square foot unit has two large bedrooms, a large open common space that includes the living room, dining room, kitchen and a full-size bathroom.

The Balcony and Beachside suites are identical and each can sleep 6 people comfortably. Both suites are ideal for an entire family or a group of friends and one suite can be a spacious environment for 2 or more.

Each individual suite has it's own private entrance, fully furnished kitchen, bath, and living area, providing complete privacy from noise and unwanted interruptions.

The living area includes a fully equipped kitchen adjoining a beautifully furnished living area containing a colorful fold-out futon bed, tropical hardwood furniture and lamps. Outside the sliding glass doors of the living area and master bedroom is an expansive deck, spanning the ocean front and side of the house. In addition to the exquisite view the deck area is fully furnished with outdoor patio furniture, lounge chairs, and Mayan hammocks so you can eat, drink, relax, and enjoy the incredible view of the Caribbean and bask in its warm tropical breezes.
The master bedroom has an incredible ocean view, a queen size bed, bedside tables, chair, and ample closet space. The spacious second bedroom has two double beds, table, chair, plenty of closet space, and storage. The full-size bathroom is constructed of authentic mexican tiled counters and floors, with a large walk-in shower.
Each kitchen has a full size refrigerator, stove with oven, blender and is furnished with glasses, dishes, silverware and cookware. Purified bottled drinking water is supplied. Water purification drops are needed for washing fruits and vegetables and for rinsing dishes. Water for washing and cleaning is from a rain collection system that supplies both hot and cold running water.

The 3rd floor observation roof offers breathtaking views of the Caribbean to the east and lagoons and mangrove jungle to the west. It is the perfect location to observe a tropical sunrise, sunset or stargaze into the twinkling night sky.

A back-up generator is available for our occasional cloudy day. there is adequate power to run the lights, ceiling fans and stereo. Note that appliances which generate heat require a large amount of power. These include hair dryers, clothes irons, electric coffee pots and toasters, all which are prohibited, as they will damage and close down the power supply.

Two grocery trucks bring fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs and tortillas up the road and to our door 3-5 times per week, we recommend you purchase primary food supplies on your way to the inn.

Nearby restaurants are located at several local resorts along the beach and in the town of Xcalak. There are also several small grocery stores where you can purchase limited provisions.

Ron and Roberta are owners of Coral Garden Inn. Because our other home is in beautiful, northern California, we have arranged to have local residents, Andy and Ruth Sanders manage the Inn. They will answer questions and attend to your needs. They have lived in this area for over 10 years and are very knowledgeable about the local area and its customs. They also operate the closest restaurant “Mama Ruth’s”, just over a kilometer south. Dinner there is a social affair you won’t want to miss.

Xcalak's Reefs National Park

Xcalak has been a protected National Reserve since 2000. All the waters, including those in front of the house are part of the park and regulated by the part commission. A list of park regulations are in the information book for the inn.

All visitors to the park are required to follow regulations and to purchase a daily wrist band when swimming, snorkeling, diving, or fishing. Available through our caretaker or manager.

* Note the Coral Garden Inn is part of an ecological, jungle habitat. Along with the birds and prolific lagoon and coral inhabitants, we occasionally have visits from less desirable critters, such as ants, mosquitoes etc. The tropical breeze takes care of mosquitoes most of the time. Although, we do our best to control the presence of these critters in our villa, it is recommended that you put food away, clean off counter tops and tables, come prepared with insect repellant and wear shoes when walking outdoors.
